Last week Facebook announced that they’ve passed another huge milestone. Mark Zuckerberg announced, via a Facebook post, announced that the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people. He also mentioned in the comments on the post that it has taken Facebook a little under 5 years to double their monthly active user base from 1 billion to 2 billion.
2 billion people represents over ¼ of the world’s 7.5 billion people and is more people than live on 6 of the world’s 7 continents. It is a staggering figure that puts to shame all other social networks.
Zuckerberg later updated his cover photo to an updated light map that shows Facebook users around the world. “The world is a little brighter now,” he said.
Depends which way you look at it Mark.
