Here’s why removing your nose hair is a really, really bad idea

Body hair of any sort can be shaped and styled any which way you want.

It’s also not uncommon for the modern man to get rid of certain unwanted patches of hair. Y’know – that tuft that sometimes sprouts up from between your eyebrows, or even those extra long nose hairs.

But just before you start sticking a pair of tweezers up your nostrils, you might want to read on.

According to Business Insidergetting rid of your nose hair is a really bad idea and could even result in death. We’re not even kidding… presumably the bloke in the video below isn’t either.

Having explained the actual function of nasal hair, NYU otologist Dr. Erich Voigt tells us that removing nose hair can allow germs to jump into the empty follicle. With the veins that drain the nose also linking in with veins that drain the brain, he explains in the video that such infections brought on by the germs can go on to cause meningitis and brain abscesses.

So, while it’s understandable that the men of today don’t want nose hair that’s long enough to plait, you might want to steer clear of plucking it or cutting it too short.

You’ve been warned, now listen to Erich…
