Be warned if you continue reading after this point you will encounter the following:
- Ridiculously heavy spoilers
- My opinion, given with no regard to other’s opinions
- Occasional Adult Language and Concepts, because … you know.
When I watched the ending of Castle the other day it was a few days after they (Whoever makes it) announced that it was THE END.
They had already said that it was the end for Stana Katic, (her name is an anagram of Satan, go figure?) and that season 9 would return without her. I had pretty much bailed on the whole Castle thing this season, the previous one was lightly disappointing and I was enjoying it less and less, often skip-watching rather than paying full attention.
So I figured skip to the end and see how it all comes to a close, fully expecting that there would be a death (hers) and that would be the end of that, I can move on past this ludicrous LokSat sub-plot and find some other guilty pleasure of TV Cheese.
They wrap that plot up badly, with a McGuffin explanation and a quick return and dispatch of the bad guy, who weirdly was a vaguely ridiculous guest star from earlier in the season, not so much a twist as just making with the lame and the stupid.
Then with 2 minutes to run this happens.
MASSIVE MASSIVE SPOILERS
Even if you are not a fan, or never even watched the show you’ve got to be thinking that some executive phoned this in, I can’t imagine any halfway decent writer, director or star would ever want their name on this idea.
So after eight years of watching a faintly silly premise, delivered charmingly enough with occasional guest stars from various Firefly alumni, (yes I know, Let It Go) – instead of being remembered vaguely fondly or even getting into the re-watch queue at some point, all I’ll ever remember are the bitter pills delivered in the final 2 minutes and 27 seconds.
Way to pants the ending guys.
I am disappoint.
Any TV show done a worse, more pathetic ending than this? And don’t immediately say LOST, because at least they fucking committed to pissing everyone off.
