Does the Game of Thrones trailer reveal more about Jon Snow’s fate than they want us to know?

At this stage I am sure you have watched the GOT Season 6 trailer until your eyes bleed and you are banging your head against the wall still crying out to know the fate of a certain Lord Commander. Well we have been p0uring over the trailer and may have some insight for you.

Obviously plenty of spoilery speculation below.

So the trailer starts with the camera panning over Jon Snow’s body as Davos say’s “he’s gone”, and that is clearly what HBO want us to believe.

We move to Davos standing over what looks like a funeral pyre, presumably meant for Jon Snow. We know the Nights Watch burn the dead after all to avoid them turning into white walkers.

This might be the most important part of all of the trailer, and if you don’t want some major spoilery speculation, stop reading now!

Still with us? Good! The leader of the group above looks very similar to a young Ned Stark. But he’s dead since season one  hear you cry! Well hear me out for a minute. It’s long been speculated that Jon is not Ned’s son, but in fact the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Ned travels to the Tower of Joy with Howland Reed (who’s children we have met) where he fights a bloody duel to free his supposedly captive sister. He wins, but finds his sister dying, lying in a pool of blood. On her death bed he makes a promise to her. Many fans believe that this alludes to him finding her just after giving birth to a son, who would be half Stark, half Targaryen, a combination of Ice and Fire. And the promise; to keep the child safe from Robert Baratheon who had ordered all Targaryens killed. GOT filmed at the Castillo de Zafra in Spain which looks awfully similar to the books description of the castle so this is almost certain a flashback to show us what happened. And why would they do that if Jon was dead….

Moving on…

We get several scenes of what looks like Northmen in battle. But who could unite them to fight together?

Now I know this is blurry, but that rider on the white horse leading them into battle looks awful similar to Jon Snow.

Back a bit slightly in the trailer, we see Melisandre starts undressing, and then putting her hand on Jon Snow’s head. These are cut together to make it look like they’re directly one after the other, which may not be the case. But it does look like Melisandre plans to do something with Jon’s body…

We finish with Davos advising us “I’ve never been much of a fighter. Apologies for what you’re about to see.” He has Longclaw, Jon’s sword, in hand ready to fight. Why is he protecting Jon’s body from the Nights Watch—who, presumably, want to burn it before Jon becomes a White Walker. Why whould he do this, unless he knows something we don’t…

So in summary, it’s quite clear that Jon Snow will rise from the dead, escaping his bond with the Nights Watch (which is until death after all), take the name of Stark (Robb legitimised him as his heir before he died), unite the seven kingdoms, and alongside Daenerys lead the final battle against the Night King. Or maybe he’s actually dead….
